The German Aerospace Center (DLR) site in Cologne is in the south-west of Cologne, very near to Cologne Bonn Airport. To get there:

Train (S-Bahn) and bus

Take the S 12 or S 13 S-Bahn from Cologne's Hauptbahnhof, Troisdorf or Siegburg and get off at the "Porz-Wahn" S-Bahn station. The S 13 S-Bahn line also stops at Cologne/Bonn Airport.

Both lines run at 20-minute intervals, i.e., one of the two runs every 10 minutes. Then, from the "Porz-Wahn" S-Bahn station, take the KVB bus number 162 to the "DLR" terminus.

At Cologne's Hauptbahnhof, there are taxi stands at both exits. Tell the driver you want to go to "Porz-Wahnheide, DLR". The phone number for Cologne's Taxi Ruf service is 19410. When traffic is flowing freely, the fare should cost around 35 euros.

See map: Coming from Frankfurt (A3) or from Bonn (A59), follow the sign "Flughafen Köln/Bonn" (A59) and - before the airport - take the "Porz- Wahn/Wahnheide" exit, keep to the right and follow the "DLR" signs.

Coming from Cologne (A59) or from Oberhausen/Duesseldorf (A3), likewise follow the "Flughafen Köln/Bonn" sign, but at the "Flughafen" junction carry straight on and take the next exit, "Porz-Wahn/Wahnheide", keep to the left and follow the "DLR" signs.

Please note: If you are using a navigation system, enter "Planitzweg" rather than Linder Höhe.

If you fly into Cologne Bonn airport you have two options. Either take a taxi (journey takes 5 to 10 minutes). Tell the driver you want to go to "Porz- Wahnheide, DLR". Or, from the "Köln/Bonn Flughafen" station in the lower level at the airport, take the S 13 S-Bahn towards "Troisdorf" and get off at the "Porz-Wahn" station (the first stop). It should take 30 to 45 minutes. See also "Train (S-Bahn) and bus".
